Form & Function

Aspects of Creation & Expression

The purpose of this project is to explore the relationship between form and function. The main goal of the project is to combine unique creation with the expression of function and requirements. Students were required to transform an existing bridge into a structure that allows water traffic to pass through a 30' x 40' opening.

Movement Analogies

We had to collect three or more household items that had two or more hinges mechanically. Out of all the objects, we chose three to use for the bridge opening and drew out the movements of each object, to get a better understanding of how it move mechanically and how it would apply to our prototypes. The three objects I chose was a Vice Grip Wrench, Zinc Cutter, and a Vice Grip C-Clamp.
